What brought you into the animal field?
I grew up surrounded by horses and dogs, and my love for animals has always been a big part of my life. My first job was at Quicksilver Farms, where I cared for horses and helped with daily barn duties, veterinary visits, wound care, and assisting trainers before and after rides. These experiences helped grow my passion for animal care and inspired me to continue learning about veterinary medicine.
Anything else work related you would like to share?
Growing up with horses has given me hands-on experience with a variety of equine health concerns, from wound care and pressure dressings to recognizing signs of choking, colic, and EPM flare-ups. I’ve learned so much from my mom and the veterinarians who have helped care for my horse, Pumpkin, and I look forward to continuing to expand my knowledge and skills.
Where are you from, and where have you been?
I was born and raised in Awendaw, South Carolina, and am currently attending Trident Technical College, where I’m working toward my associate degree in science. I plan to pursue the veterinary technology program or continue toward a bachelor’s degree in science. Outside of work and school, I enjoy attending horse shows, especially at Tryon International in North Carolina.
Do you have any pets? List names and breeds.
My household is full of animals! We have three dogs: Gertrude and Onyx, our Corgis, and Ola, our German Shepherd. Our four cats include Itty Bitty, a polydactyl cat; Moody and Rufus, our sibling cats; and Link, our oldest cat. We also have a ball python named Diamond and a gecko named Penelope.
At the barn, we have four horses: Nola and her son Revi, along with my horse, Pumpkin, and her son Melman. We also have a donkey named Bell!
What are your hobbies and interests?
Most of my free time revolves around my horses, especially Pumpkin, although I love them all! When I’m not at the barn, I enjoy going on late-night adventures or grabbing lunch with friends. I also love drawing and watching the latest horror movies whenever I have some downtime.
